6 minutes left in Q2 and there is one car on the track. Bernie you are a genius. The teams are playing smart like one would expect them to, making for a very boring qualifying session.

i know there arent any REAL surprises in your photo... but lets all be careful not to inadvertantly let any spoilers loose in our posts.

sometimes/most times, im not able to sit and watch qualifying and the race at the normal times, or even within a week. id like to not have to avoid ALL the car sites i like to visit. :)

You don’t want to have to slog through the qualifying anyways. It’s really, really bad.

I think it might be ok until the end, knocking out slower cars early on is fine, but later they need to keep it the old style to keep it going til the end. That is if they don’t just go back to the old way which is fine. The problem is what everyone is talking about with the cars and following etc... Leave qualy alone, deal with the real problems!

It was a decent Q3 since HAM stuffed up his first flying lap; there’s basically nothing separating the two Mercs. However, once HAM and ROS set their times it made the rest of qualifying pointless; normally we’d be seeing all the cars coming across the line at the end of qualifying but it was finished with 2 mins or so left to go in the session.

If they continue with this then I may join in to watch Q3 just so I know what the grid will look like, but qualifying is no longer something I’ll be looking forward to as I did in the past.

They really need to back to the old format. IMO it was almost better than the race.

If qualifying has to be changed, I would like to see them try single car qualifying runs. It might be boring but, one lap on super softs, low fuel load, minimum downforce, balls out runs could be awesome.

During Q1 and Q2, they fast cars just did their one lap then parked it. There is no incentive for any car to keep running laps if it looks like they aren’t going to make it to the next session.

There is no incentive for the slower cars to stay on track, and the fast guys just do their lap in Q1 and Q2 then park it.

Yeah you might as well quit, then they talk about reverse grid, I don’t think there was anything wrong with qualy other than backmarkers getting in the way.

Haas did well but I didn’t really see that until Herbert was interviewing someone later. I think with the dropping out we also forget about the people. With the old system we have cars coming across the line (people can finish a lap) and then we have a conclusion.

Now that you mention it, I completely forgot about Haas. It’s fantastic to see that their car get such results so early in their first season.

Yay Dallara Ferrari!! I mean Haas!! They have way better equipment than Manor ever did, but it’s nice to see Manor not be so terrible. I would really like to see the last half of the grid be fairly even and fight it out.
